Hello Good people, weekend was on “fleek” as the “youngins” of today will say, I can’t keep up with these kids. Social Media and technology is on another level. On that note, this weekend I spent Saturday in Delaware. One of my son’s Delvin from another mother was honored as an Eagle Scout of the http://www.bsatroop301.com/ the highest rank of being a boy scout. As per his mum only about one percent of black kids get to that level. Delvin is the son of my friend/family Angie. Angie and I have know each other since secondary school as we call it in Freetown, Sierra Leone but referred to as High School in America. Just a little bit of background information, nursery School in Freetown will be kindergarten here, primary School will be elementary and middle School combined.
Delvin is first generation American from an African family, he speaks English and barely understands Krio. His mum had told me he wanted to pierce his ears. The kids know their aunty Jackie doesn’t play, conversation between the two of us.
Me: in krio, Delvin why you boss you yase? Delvin:, huh? aunty Jackie I don’t know what you are saying? Me: Delvin why did you pierce your ears? Delvin: I, didn’t want to but I did and oh the girls love it as he is running away from me. Me: Smh, ar go pray for you..:-)
It was an honor to celebrate this very important achievement in your life, Delvin. I pray that the Lord bless and keep you and make his face to shine upon you. I secure your life in the blood of Jesus. Among the outstanding you will stand out, you will always be the head and not the tail. Be blessed son, love ya!!!
Angie has a story to tell and one of these days, when she is ready we will blog about it. The bible says train a child in the way he/she should go and when they are old they will not depart from it. My sister, you and Maurice have done well..Kudos to you family, to God be the glory for your lives.
Proverbs 6:22 Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.
The dash of Africana is my African outfit..Everyone knows I love Africana..this is how we call our cultural/ethnic outfit in Sierra Leone. A full blog post coming soon on fabrics and designs. Outfit was designed by me, fabric was chosen and made in Freetown by Dorish Scott, how ironic that she is Angie’s first cousin and Delvin’s aunt. Look out for Part two my Sunday..Smoochess!!! Muah!!!
With the man himself, I was there when he was born and I used to babysit him, Now he is taller than me..:-)
